The Culture of South Skye
The Sleat Peninsula
Here in Sleat we enjoy a vibrant life and host some of the best cultural events in Scotland–concerts, dance, art exhibitions, poetry readings, book festivals - with contributors coming to perform here from every corner of the globe. We are very proud of our traditional culture and Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Scotland’s Gaelic College, home to the Gaelic renaissance, is often the venue for a wonderful variety of performance events. In a very small geographical area the arts pack a big punch! SEALL, the Sleat based voluntary arts promotion company is recognised as the most lively organisation of its type in Scotland, if not the UK. In 2015 over 100 events will take place including the Feis an Eilein in the summer and the third Skye Swing Jazz Festival in the autumn. Many of our visitors plan their holidays around some of the fantastic performances shown at venues across Sleat and occasionally further afield.
Club Film, a long established movie club, managed by SEALL, shows films of every genre throughout the year. You'll never be short of things to see in Sleat, and share our unique and varied culture.
